Gora/McGahey Architects (GMA) has hired Architect Toni Lee Ferrell, AIA, LEED AP as Project Architect. Ferrell brings more than 26 years of experience to GMA. Most recently Ferrell served as Principal Architect of her own firm Ferrell Sanford Studio Inc, prior to joining GMA.

Ferrell’s projects include public and private work in Southwest Florida, Virginia and New Mexico. Recent projects include a new 33,000-square-foot complex for Lee County Mosquito Control District, a new fire station with living and training facilities, and numerous projects for Edison State College (in association with BSSW). Preservation projects include the Captain Francis Hendry Home Rehabilitation (a Florida State Preservation Grant project and recipient of the Florida Trust Award of Merit), the Winesett Building Certified Historic Façade Restoration in downtown Fort Myers, and feasibility studies for Charlotte County and the City of Fort Myers. Other work includes documentation for the Library of Congress, historic structure and district surveys, and individual and district historic designation reports. She has served on the Lee County Historic Preservation Board for over 20 years.

 

Ferrell earned her bachelor and master degrees in architecture from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg VA. She is a published author, and has earned numerous awards for planning, design, preservation and advocacy. In 2010 she received the AIA Southwest Florida President’s Honor Award. She is a member of the American Institute of Architects, National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, National Trust for Historic Preservation, and Florida Trust for Historic Preservation.
