Ada Mae Williams, or “Mama Williams” as she is referred to by those who know her, has lived in her home nearly 50 years. She is a permanent fixture in her Harlem Lakes community as an active member in the Neighborhood Watch and community improvement associations. She is known for her huge heart and numerous hugs. One would have never known that Williams was living in a home that had no working air conditioning, no fans and major plumbing issues.

Builders Care, the nonprofit arm of the Lee Building Industry Association (BIA), Acra Electric, Cape Coral Plumbing, HD Supply and Sunset Air Inc. recently donated services and materials to complete a renovation of Williams’ home. In just a few short weeks, Williams had a new air conditioning unit, a new water heater, new kitchen faucet and new fans throughout her home. These repairs not only assist Williams with everyday needs, they also are more energy efficient, which has lowered utility bills.

“We are so excited to be able to help an individual who is dedicated to giving back to her community,” said Heidi Taulman, Builders Care executive director.  “As with every project, it wouldn’t be possible without the support of volunteers. We are so grateful for their continued support, especially during these tough economic times.”
