Chicken Salad Chick in Fort Myers sets fundraising record for Family & Friends Event benefitting Golisano Children’s Hospital

Chicken Salad Chick, a fast-casual, Southern-inspired chicken salad restaurant, has raised $3,740 for Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida at its “Family & Friends” events on Sept. 16-17, setting a new fundraising record for the franchise’s 220 restaurants across 17 states.

Leading up to its grand opening, Chicken Salad Chick invited families and friends of employees, as well as local firefighters and other community members, to sample items from the menu and meet first-time franchise owners Kendal Potesta and Scott Pace. Throughout the complimentary two-day event, guests donated generously to Golisano Children’s Hospital, with 100% of the proceeds going to Golisano Children’s Hospital.

“Chicken Salad Chick’s record-breaking donation to Golisano Children’s Hospital for children’s cancer treatment just shows how generous this community really is,” said Kendal Potesta, co-owner of Chicken Salad Chick in Fort Myers. “If all we do here in Fort Myers is leave this community a better place and better fed with healthier food options, I’m happy with that, and it’s all we really need to be truly successful.”

During its grand opening on Sept. 20, Chicken Salad Chick presented the $3,740 check to Barbara’s Friends of Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida. Barbara’s Friends, the childhood cancer fund for Golisano Children’s Hospital, assists with assistance to address the needs of patients and families including counseling, medical equipment, facilities, staffing and family assistance.

“We cannot thank Kendall and Scott and the whole Chicken Salad team enough for all they’ve done to raise so much awareness during Childhood Cancer Awareness month for Barbara’s Friends. These funds will mean medication, therapies and more for the more than 90 children fighting cancer right now at Golisano Children’s Hospital of SWFL,” said Amy Frith, Sr. Director of Barbara’s Friends the pediatric cancer fund for Golisano. “Chicken Salad Chick is genuine and sincere in their mission to give back and help the local community. We are thrilled that Barbara’s Friends and our community could help this team have the highest philanthropic friends and family event in the company’s history. That says a lot about the commitment of our community to support local kids and local families.”

Located at 7925 Dani Drive in Fort Myers Village Walk, the new restaurant is the first of six locations Potesta and Pace plan to open in Southwest Florida. Chicken Salad Chick is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and closed on Sundays.
