Community Cooperative’s Empty Bowls fundraiser rescheduled to April 9

Community Cooperative has announced a new date and location for its Empty Bowls fundraiser, presented by FineMark National Bank & Trust. Originally scheduled Feb. 26 at Alliance for the Arts in Fort Myers, the event will now be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 9 at Centennial Park.

“Unfortunately, City of Fort Myers construction at the Alliance for the Arts has made it impossible for us to plan the event there this month,” said Stefanie Ink-Edwards, CEO of Community Cooperative. “We are pleased to bring back this popular event, now scheduled for April 9 at Centennial Park.”

Sanibel Pottery will be collaborating with this year’s event to raise hunger awareness through art. One-of-a kind handcrafted ceramic bowls made by Lee County schoolchildren and artisans will be available for purchase at the event as a reminder of those who go hungry right here in Lee County.

This year’s event will feature:

  • A soup cook-off and soup sampling from favorite local restaurants
  • Vendor area, including local artisans
  • Silent auctions
  • Food trucks
  • Family-friendly activities
  • Dance and music performances by local schools and organizations

The event supports Community Cooperative’s emergency food programs that include Sam’s Community Café & Kitchen, Community Market and Mobile Food Pantries.

Admission is free for children and $10 for adults 18 years and older and includes soup tasting and a ceramic bowl (while supplies last).
