Cypress Pharmacy, an independent, locally owned community pharmacy, has expanded its patient preventative health care services, now offering convenient, affordable in-store cholesterol and glucose screenings.
“Unfortunately, many men and women are unaware of their current cholesterol and glucose levels, and not knowing can pose a huge threat,” said T.J. DePaola, pharmacist-in-charge and president of Cypress Pharmacy. “Cypress Pharmacy is providing this precautionary health care service to our patients to encourage them to know their levels and what those levels mean. This affordable and easily accessible health test, which detects indicators of serious health risks that could lead to a heart attack and diabetes, among other conditions, will empower our patients to work with their physicians to either lower or stabilize their levels.”
Pharmacists administer the cholesterol and glucose test by using one fingerstick to conduct both screenings, and within 90 seconds, patients are provided with accurate on-site results. The tests are available for $40 to patients 18 years or older, with no appointment necessary during normal pharmacy hours. Patients under 18 years of age will need to be accompanied by a legal guardian for the test to be administered. Screenings provide valuable information for patients to consult with their physician on preventative care or solutions, as the results are not for diagnostic or treatment purposes.
