Diversified Yacht Services (DYS) has broken ground on a new boat yard and marina at 751 Fisherman’s Wharf, where the former Fort Myers Beach Marina once stood. The old marina building has been removed, and construction has begun on a new 60,000-square-foot DYS service facility.

In this new facility, DYS will provide comprehensive services for water vessels of all types and sizes from small flats boats to large yachts in an indoor climate-controlled structure built to withstand hurricane winds of up to 150 miles per hour. Fuel will be available on the property, which will also feature more than 20 slips for lease. These slips will accommodate boats ranging from 30 to 80 feet in length.

Notably, the company is installing a 150-ton travel lift. A rarity on the west coast of Florida, the lift has the capacity to haul boats up to 120 feet in length out of the water.  This service is entirely new to Southwest Florida.  Typically, vessels in the 60-foot–and-above range travel from the gulf coast to the Ft. Lauderdale /Miami area for their annual service. This inconvenience will no longer be necessary once DYS’s new service facility is operational. Additionally, DYS will offer a fully-enclosed paint booth, which is also unique on Florida’s gulf coast.

DYS has earned a reputation for quality and reliability that is catapulting growth,” says Ryan Levi, chief operating officer of DYS. “This new facility is a significant milestone for our company, and it will greatly enhance the area’s appeal to boaters as well.”

DYS, which was founded in 1994 as a mobile yacht service company, expects to complete construction of the marina in December 2011 and the service building in spring 2012. Levi expects the company’s current staff of 20 employees to double in the new facility.
