Dr. Trevor Elmquist of Elmquist Eye Group earns place on Castle Connolly list of ‘Top Doctors’

Dr. Trevor Elmquist of Elmquist Eye Group once again has been honored as one of the region’s Top Doctors by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., a research and publishing company created to help consumers identify the best health care providers.

Since 2011, Elmquist has been included annually in Castle Connolly’s regional directory of “Top Doctors” for ophthalmology. Castle Connolly recognizes the top 10 percent of primary and specialty care physicians within their chosen field after a doctor-led research team completes an extensive review of nominations, credentials and interviews. Doctors must be nominated by a peer; self-nominations are not allowed.

“It’s a pleasure to receive this distinction again,” said Elmquist, founder of Elmquist Eye Group. “For more than 25 years, Elmquist Eye Group has been dedicated to excellence. Our skilled team of professionals share in my commitment to providing the highest quality eye care and service to our patients.”

Elmquist is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He specializes in general ophthalmology and enjoys caring for patients with cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, dry eye, glaucoma, and many other eye conditions. Elmquist leads his associates in providing patients with a range of medical and surgical eye care services through offices in Fort Myers, Cape Coral and at The Arbor Medical Clinic within Shell Point Retirement Community. Earlier this year, Elmquist Eye Group relocated and expanded its Fort Myers operations with additional space for patient care and an enlarged optical boutique.

To begin his career, Elmquist served as an ophthalmology resident at Walter Reed Army Medical Center from 1985 to 1988. He was selected as Chief Resident at Walter Reed and served in this capacity from 1987 to 1988. Elmquist was also the Chief of the eye clinic at Homestead AFB from 1988 to 1990.
