Fort Myers Brewing Company to host fundraiser on Saturday for 7-year-old SWFL boy battling leukemia

Fort Myers Brewing Company is hosting a community fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 10 to benefit the family of a 7-year-old Cape Coral boy who is battling leukemia for the third time.

The #AdynStrong Fundraiser will feature food trucks, drinks, live music and auction items, with a goal of raising money to help the Pickett family cover mounting medical bills. Fort Myers Brewing will donate 100 percent of its proceeds from sales during the event.

Adyn Pickett was first diagnosed with leukemia at 4 years old, and again at 6 years old. His intense treatments included multiple rounds of chemotherapy, transfusions and a bone marrow transplant made possible after his younger sister was a donor match. However, the family learned this summer that the leukemia had returned, and Adyn already has endured several chemotherapy and radiation treatments just as he was preparing to enter second grade.

“When we first heard about Adyn’s story, we knew we had to help the Pickett family,” said Jen Whyte, co-owner of Fort Myers Brewing Company. “They’ve already been through so many highs and lows, and as a community, it’s encouraging to see so many individuals and businesses stepping forward to help.”

Dozens of items already have been donated for a silent auction, including gift certificates to local restaurants, attractions, golf courses and more. Several gift baskets also have been donated.

“We’re also going to have donation buckets at the event, and it’s our hope that we can fill those buckets with cash to help out the Pickett family,” Whyte said.

The #AdynStrong Fundraiser runs from noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10 at Fort Myers Brewing Company, 12811 Commerce Lakes Drive, Suite 28, in Fort Myers. For more information, please visit Facebook.com/FMBrew or call 239-313-6576.
