Fort Myers Miracle reschedule Independence Day fireworks celebration to tonight

The Fort Myers Miracle will host its annual Independence Day fireworks extravaganza tonight, offering fans an opportunity to keep the party going.

Torrential rains and persistent lightning on Wednesday evening forced the postponement of the Miracle’s July 4th game and holiday celebration.

The Miracle will play a doubleheader today against the Dunedin Blue Jays. The first game begins at 4:30 p.m., and game two will start 30 minutes after the conclusion of the opener. Both games will be seven innings instead of the full nine. Zambelli Fireworks will begin launching pyrotechnics following the nightcap.

“Although we offer postgame fireworks after every Friday night home game, our Independence Day fireworks show is our largest and most spectacular one of the season,” said Chris Peters, president and general manager of the Miracle. “Our fans look forward to July 4th every year, so we’re not going to let a little rain get in the way of our Independence Day fireworks, even if we are a day late.”

Fans holding tickets for the postponed July 4 game can exchange them at the Hammond Stadium box office for tickets to today’s doubleheader. Alternatively, tickets can be exchanged for any future home game this season.

Today’s promotions include Thirsty Thursday, when fans can enjoy 12-ounce beers for $2, live music at the bar and a postgame party at Twin Peaks. Thirsty Thursday is presented by Budweiser, Twin Peaks and Cat Country 107.1. It’s also College Night, where students with a valid ID can purchase a game ticket for just $5.

CenturyLink is sponsoring Keep the Party Going Night, offering fans a second chance to celebrate the Fourth of July. CenturyLink is joining with American Legion Post 38, iHeart Media and Dairy Queen to present the postgame fireworks show.

Gates for today’s game open at 4 p.m.
