Functional Medicine 101: Free course explores health benefits of functional and integrative medicine

Naples Center for Functional Medicine will host a complimentary class on Nov. 6 explaining how functional and integrative medicine can help Southwest Florida residents improve their overall health and lifestyle.

Functional Medicine 101 explores the ground floor of good health. Attendees will learn the basics of functional medicine, an evidence-based, holistic approach to medical care that identifies the root causes of sickness or pain, treating the whole patient rather than just symptoms. Doctors of functional medicine develop a detailed health history analysis that includes a biochemical and lifestyle profile of a patient before outlining an individual road map to long-term health.

The class will be led by Medical Director Dr. Carol L. Roberts, who has practiced functional, integrative and holistic medicine for more than 25 years. Roberts will explain how nutrition, exercise, hormones, genetics, stress, sleep, toxins and other factors impact health and wellness.

Functional Medicine 101 begins at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at Naples Center for Functional Medicine, 800 Goodlette Road, Suite 270, in Naples.

The class is free to attend, but RSVPs are encouraged by visiting NaplesCFM.com/functional-medicine-event or calling 239-649-7400.
