Healthcare Network matches employee donations to Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance

Healthcare Network has matched its employee contributions to Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance (IFHA), creating a total donation exceeding $13,700.

Healthcare Network held an internal fundraising campaign to raise money for the housing alliance, which has a vision of providing access to secure, affordable, hurricane-resistant rental housing, strengthening the community by fostering health, education, dignity and financial stability.

“As a health center dedicated to improving overall community health, we recognize that access to affordable housing makes more household resources available to pay for health care, insurance and healthy food, which leads to better health outcomes,” said Gabrielle O’Boyle, director of marketing for Healthcare Network. “Affordable housing also reduces stress from housing instability, which leads to improved physical and mental health.”

The IFHA is developing an affordable rental complex on Lake Trafford Road in Immokalee that will include 128 two- and three-bedroom apartments, along with a community center for meetings, after-school programs, healthcare assistance and more.

About the Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance

The Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) created in 2018 by a group of concerned citizens who saw the damage done by Hurricane Irma to already substandard trailers and shacks rented by farmworker and other low-income families in Immokalee. The IFHA vision is for these families to have access to secure, affordable, hurricane-resistant rental housing, which will strengthen the community by fostering health, education, dignity and financial stability. The organization has embarked on a project to create community awareness and raise funds for a 128-rental unit complex in Immokalee. For more information, please visit ImmokaleeFairHousing.org.
