Junior Achievement was recently honored before 30 members of Congress in Washington D.C. at the Financial Services Roundtable’s annual fall gala. The Roundtable, a group of the 100 largest integrated financial services companies in the U.S., presented Junior Achievement with the Leadership in Financial Literacy Award for what Roundtable President and CEO Steve Bartlett called “innovative financial education programs for America’s youth.”
The award is intended to recognize ongoing commitment and leadership in preparing American youth to be fiscally responsible. Junior Achievement provides in-school and after-school programs for students throughout the U.S. and in 120 other countries that focus on three key content areas: work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy.
“The programs that earned Junior Achievement this prestigious national recognition are the same as those taught to students through the local Junior Achievement organization throughout Southwest Florida,” said Victoria Stephan, president of Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida. “We know the power of these programs to prepare the next generation for a successful future, and we’re thrilled the Financial Services Roundtable chose to highlight their importance.”
The Roundtable and Junior Achievement also announced a new collaboration at the gala, which aims to mobilize 25,000 employees of Roundtable members to deliver Junior Achievement programs to more than 500,000 students across the country in the next three years. The event was attended by more than 30 members of Congress, as well as by business leaders from Roundtable member organizations.
