Lee County to host Senior Softball-USA Masters MegaDraft Event June 16-18

Lee County will host the Senior Softball-USA (SSUSA) Masters MegaDraft, taking place Friday, June 16, through Sunday, June 18. Players competing in the new format tournament will be informed of team assignments only while attending a pre-event draft function. Teams will then compete throughout the weekend at the CenturyLink Sports Complex, 14400 Six Mile Cypress Blvd., Fort Myers.

“Lee County thanks Senior Softball-USA for the opportunity to host the Senior Softball-USA Master’s inaugural MegaDraft Tournament here in Fort Myers,” said Jeff Mielke, executive director of Lee County Sports Development. “It’s wonderful to see our longstanding partnership with SSUSA continue and we look forward to enjoying another unique event with athletes, fans and members of our local community.”

“Fort Myers is a paradise location for our Masters MegaDraft Tournament,” said Tim McElroy, Senior Softball-USA’s 40s program national director and Masters MegaDraft event director. “We’ve held a number of very successful senior softball events in Southwest Florida and the world-class facilities, perfect weather and warm hospitality keep us coming back. I look forward to continuing this tradition as often as we can.”

The Masters MegaDraft is open to all players aged 40 or above, by year-end, who love to play softball. A maximum of 13 players will be assigned to each team to ensure generous playing time for all competitors. Interested players must enter registrations individually, via the form posted at www.leaguelineup.com/megadraft and submit payment to Senior Softball-USA (916-326-5303). Early registration ($40) ends May 15, and late registration ($50) ends May 31, at which time players will be accepted, provided space allows.

Once registered, all players are guaranteed team placement, a minimum of five matches over the course of the weekend, an SSUSA 2017 player registration card, access to Adidas sponsored skills challenges and prizes, access to the Adidas merchandise tent and draft party attendance at Stevie Tomato’s.

The tournament weekend begins on Friday, June 16, with player check-in, a welcome reception and draft announcements from 7 to 9 p.m. On Saturday, June 17, bracket games and Adidas skills competitions run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tournament games begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday, June 18, with awards and presentations to follow. All tournament activities will conclude by 3 p.m. June 18.
