Iberia Bank helps Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida prepare students for future careers
Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida teamed up with volunteers from Iberia Bank to bring the “JA in a Day” program to the seventh-grade students at Lehigh Acres Middle School on May 20 to teach the students about workplace readiness. The half-day program focused on positive personal branding, career mapping, job searches and skills the students will need to keep their future jobs.
Volunteers from Iberia Bank spoke to the students about the impact that personal behavior has on potential careers and how creating a positive personal brand and learning how to research careers will help them prepare for their future work environments. The volunteers also provided stories of their personal experience in the workforce to help solidify the concepts that were shared throughout the sessions. The program concluded with a certificate presentation for the students.
“The “JA in a Day” program provides a wealth of information that will prepare students for their future careers,” said Lysa Kennedy, program manager for Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida. “It was a joy to visit the students at Lehigh Acres Middle School and we are thankful for all of the Iberia Bank volunteers who were so eager to provide this opportunity to these students.”
