Individual, team online fundraising opportunities available for supporters

The Lung Cancer Research Council is pleased to announce the sponsors of its fourth annual SW Florida 5K Run/Walk and Mile of Memories Memorial Walk, which will take place on Nov. 5 at the Charlotte Sports Park, located at 2300 El Jobean Rd. in Port Charlotte. The event’s diamond sponsor is South Florida Ford, and Truly Nolen Pest Control is the platinum sponsor. McDonnell Dermatology is the gold sponsor, Millennium Physicians Group is the silver sponsor and bronze sponsors include Ambitrans Medical Transport, Farr Law Firm and Drug Free Charlotte County. Additional sponsors include Buffalo Graffix, and iHeartRadio.

Groups, businesses and individuals unable to participate in the SW Florida 5K Ru
n/Walk can still support the cause through online fundraising. The Lung Cancer Research Council is challenging Southwest Florida to form online fundraising teams to extend community outreach and raise lung cancer awareness. To register as an individual or team, visit www.lungcancerresearchcouncil.org and select “Run/Walk Events” at the top right corner of the page. Select “Donate” and then click “Become a Fundraiser” to begin the registration process. Once complete, a link to the online fundraising page can be shared with friends and family via social media and email to extend community reach and attain fundraising goals.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available for the upcoming event. Memorial and corporate support signs are available for purchase on the SW Florida 5K Run/Walk and Mile of Memories Memorial Walk website, and will be displayed along the finishing quarter mile. Many participants choose to dedicate a sign along the Mile of Memories for $25 in honor of a loved one, representing those who cannot share in the event. Businesses may also purchase corporate signs to demonstrate their support. A second sign is provided to corporate supporters to display at their place of business.

The SW Florida 5K Run/Walk and Mile of Memories Memorial Walk raises awareness and support for those who have been affected by lung cancer. The event will benefit the Lung Cancer Research Council programs that promote lung cancer screening and early detection.
