Priority Marketing wins ENPY Award for Business Partner of the Year

Teri Hansen at ENPY AwardsThe Cape Coral Community Foundation has named Priority Marketing as Business Partner of the Year through its fifth annual ENPY Awards program.

The Foundation’s Excellence in Nonprofit Performance Yearly (ENPY) Awards recognizes the accomplishments of nonprofit organizations, as well as their leaders, advocates and supporters. The Business Partner of the Year Award honors a business that gives freely of its resources to help a nonprofit maximize its impact in the community and the lives of those it serves.

The Lee Health Foundation nominated Priority Marketing, citing the firm’s impactful work developing a strategic campaign that promoted and executed Unmasking the Epidemic, a one-hour virtual event to educate Southwest Florida residents about an alarming pediatric mental health crisis while providing resources to those seeking help. The event far exceeded the original goal of 300 attendees, resulting in 540 registered attendees and 858 total views during the event. With its compelling video, speakers, messaging and visuals, the event inspired individuals to exceed the $500,000 goal by 100%, reaching more than $1 million to support Kids’ Minds Matter.

“Priority Marketing showcased its full range of capabilities for this campaign, which included the creation of compelling videos, emails, social media posts, extensive media coverage, a website and a promotional toolkit to drive registration and donations,” said Tiffany Whitaker, APR, CPRC, senior director of foundation marketing for the Lee Health Foundation. “We have partnered with Priority Marketing for many years and have come to expect outstanding results every time.”

Since its inception in 1992, Priority Marketing has donated more than $3 million in pro bono and discounted services to local nonprofit organizations. The Fort Myers-based company has provided marketing services to more than 200 mission-driven nonprofits.

“Values are incredibly important to our company and each member of our team, and we share a common goal with nonprofits of wanting to strengthen our community and serving individuals in need of assistance,” said Teri Hansen, APR, president and senior creative director at Priority Marketing. “The ENPYs celebrate the work of nonprofits and those supporting their missions, and being recognized as Business Partner of the Year is gratifying because there are so many other local businesses that are committed to making Southwest Florida a better place to live, work and play.”

Sanibel Community Association and Castellanos + Tramonte Architects joined Priority Marketing as finalists for the Business Partner of the Year Award.

Priority Marketing’s Melissa Mitchell named ‘40 Under 40’ honoree by Business Observer

Priority Marketing Director of Marketing and Business Development Melissa Mitchell, APR, CPRC, has been named a 40 Under 40 Award recipient by Business Observer.

The annual recognition program honors 40 individuals under 40 years of age who represent the best and brightest rising talent along Southwest Florida’s coast between Tampa and Naples. Honorees represent the next generation of leaders and are entrepreneurial, but do not necessarily own their own businesses.

“There are a lot of publications that do similar lists each year,” says Business Observer Executive Editor Kat Hughes. “We wanted our list to stand apart as a group of young professionals who aren’t afraid to take charge and take risks in their business. They are willing to try new things and put their ideas into action. To us, this is what it means to be a business leader, and we feel these 40 individuals embody that spirit.”

During her eight years at Priority Marketing, Mitchell’s creative contributions have helped grow the Fort Myers-based firm and retain its market leadership. She has led the execution of thousands of strategic projects on behalf of a wide array of for-profit and nonprofit clients, and also leads Priority Marketing’s own marketing efforts.

Before joining Priority Marketing, Mitchell was a powerhouse within the nonprofit industry, serving as director of development for Pace Center for Girls, Lee County and Island Coast AIDS Network. She remains active in the nonprofit sector through numerous community service activities, including her position as a board member on the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce and its philanthropic foundation.

In addition to Business Observer’s 40 Under 40 Award, Mitchell also has been recognized as an Alumni of Distinction by Florida Gulf Coast University, a 40-under-40 honoree by Gulfshore Business, a Power Woman by Florida Weekly and as an APEX Award finalist by the Greater Fort Myers Chamber. Mitchell, a resident of Fort Myers, earned a bachelor’s degree from Florida Southern College and a master’s degree in business administration from Florida Gulf Coast University. Priority Marketing President and Senior Creative Director Teri Hansen, APR, nominated Mitchell for the 40 Under 40 Award.

“Every day, Melissa proves that she is an invaluable asset to her clients and colleagues, as well as the community,” Hansen said. “Melissa has eagerly accepted new responsibilities as she has grown professionally and personally, and she finds innovative solutions to overcome any challenge that comes her way.”

Priority Marketing earns gold, silver Angel Awards for public service advertising campaigns

Priority Marketing 2021 Angel AwardsPriority Marketing earned Gold and Silver Angel Awards for excellence in public service advertising from the American Advertising Federation (AAF), District 4.

AAF’s Angel Award Competition combines two missions of the national organization: utilizing industry expertise to address community issues and celebrating advertising excellence. AAF’s District 4 includes Florida and all of the Caribbean.

In 2021, Priority Marketing earned a Gold Angel Award in the category of Fundraising Events & Initiatives for a campaign promoting the Circtacular gala. Guadalupe Center’s virtual, circus-themed fundraising extravaganza raised more than $1 million to support life-changing, transformational education programs to help break the cycle of poverty for children in Immokalee. Priority Marketing conceptualized a virtual event that would be fun for guests while highlighting achievements of students, therefore motivating the audience to give. The firm also led creative copywriting and design for print and digital materials, video editing and animation, email and social media marketing, website landing page development, news releases, story pitches and contributed articles, media relations and partnerships, emcee coordination, scriptwriting and presentation development, vendor coordination and stage direction, as well as contents of custom party boxes that were delivered to guests.

Additionally, Priority Marketing earned a Silver Angel Award in the category of Organization or Cause Promotion for its Unmasking the Epidemic campaign, a virtual event that helped educate community members about the alarming pediatric mental health crisis in Southwest Florida. That event also raised more than $1 million to support Kids’ Minds Matter. Priority Marketing developed the event’s creative concept and coordinated a media briefing with health professionals, community partners and mental health agencies. Collateral and creative assets included an event invitation, flyers, posters, social media and email graphics, videos, testimonials, news releases, calendar listings, contributed articles and story pitches to drive event registrations.

“Guadalupe Center and Kids’ Minds Matter are both making significant progress in accomplishing their respective missions, and raising awareness for their incredibly successful programs is a critical element in helping them raise the financial support needed to make a difference in our community,” said Priority Marketing President and Senior Creative Director Teri Hansen, APR. “It’s worth celebrating any time a nonprofit raises $1 million during a single event, but the fact that both events were virtual shows that these campaigns were truly remarkable given the challenges of 2021.”

Established in 1905, the American Advertising Federation acts as the “Unifying Voice for Advertising.” Its membership is comprised of more than 50 corporate members from the nation’s leading advertisers, agencies and media companies; a national network of more than 150 local clubs representing 40,000 advertising professionals; and more than 140 college chapters with 4,000 student members.

Clips for Cancer buzzes into Priority Marketing

Clips for Cancer at Priority MarketingGiving permeates the culture at Priority Marketing, so when Barbara’s Friends launched its Clips for Cancer campaign, team members jumped at the opportunity to help raise awareness and support for pediatric cancer care at Golisano Children’s Hospital.

Three team members – Director of Web Manny Gonzalez, Senior Graphic Designer Phil Barrera and Media Buyer Kevin McDade – braved the shave on Sept. 22. The three men, all military veterans, each have been personally affected by cancer and said they wanted to show their support for children and families in Southwest Florida.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and all month, local pediatric cancer survivors have been shaving the heads of community leaders to raise money for Barbara’s Friends — Golisano Children’s Hospital’s cancer fund. Barbara’s Friends supports programs and services not reimbursed by insurance to ensure that no family is denied access to cancer care. During the past 26 years, Barbara’s Friends has helped more than 10,000 children receive life-saving treatments.
