Owen-Ames-Kimball Company, a general contracting, design-build and construction management firm in Southwest Florida, continued its year-long 30thanniversary celebration with a donation of 30 books to the Guadalupe Center in Immokalee, Fla.

“It is especially meaningful that both Owens-Ames-Kimball Co and the Guadalupe Center are both celebrating 30 years, each serving the Southwest Florida community in our own way,” said Barbara Oppenheim, president of the Guadalupe Center. “Inspiring a love for reading is a cornerstone in our quest to break the cycle of poverty in Immokalee.”

Guadalupe Center, a privately funded non-profit 501(c)3 organization,  has been serving the children and families of Immokalee for 30 years. Its mission is to break the cycle of poverty by providing educational, social, and other support programs and resources from early childhood education and after-school tutoring to college scholarships for the next generation of aspiring leaders. Guadalupe Center also provides wrap-around services at its soup kitchen and clothing room programs.

The organization’s primary annual fundraiser is a culinary and culturally themed gala held each January. This year’s event, A Taste of Brasil, will take place on Jan. 16, 2013.

Other events O-A-K has held to celebrate three decades as a company are donation of 30 blankets to the Salvation Army of Lee, Hendry and Glades Counties, an online trivia contest to test knowledge of the company’s 30-year history, published and mailed a special anniversary brochure to clients and friends, increased its endowment to Florida Gulf Coast University and held an employee food drive which provided 971 pounds of food to the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida.
