Pavese Law Firm Partner Christina Harris Schwinn was recently honored as an Apex Award nominee by the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce Women in Business committee. The Apex Award salutes women in Lee County who excel in professional achievement, community service, mentoring and leadership.
Schwinn is active in numerous community organizations, and serves on the Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida Board of Directors, and serves as a JA volunteer, teaching legal basics to high school students. Last year, Schwinn and her husband Jim participated in JA’s “Over the Edge” urban adventure fundraiser for Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida. Schwinn and other participants raised at least $1,000 per person for the chance to rappel down the side of the 18-story Naples Grande.
In addition to JA, Schwinn has served in numerous leadership roles in a number of trade organizations and on the boards of many not for profit entities, including the Human Resource Management Association of Southwest Florida, Inc., a SHRM affiliate, serving as its Legislative Director, the Advisory Board for the Small Business Development Council at Florida Gulf Coast University; the Southwest Florida Community Foundation’s Women’s Legacy Fund; and the National Association of Professional Employer Organizations.
She has a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Nevada at Reno with a major in Criminal Justice and an undeclared minor in Psychology, a Juris Doctor degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, a Master of Laws in Real Property Development and Finance Law from the University of Miami’s Graduate Law Program and a Master of Laws in Employment Law from Atlanta’s John Marshall School of Law.
She has received numerous awards, including the Michaeline A. Doyle Volunteer Leadership Award from the National Association of Professional Employer Organizations in 2001, Robert F. Krinock Outstanding Senior Award while in law school, Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida, Inc.’s 2014-2015 Over-the-Edge Achiever award, and the Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida’s Lifetime Achievement Award for 2015-2016.
Schwinn’s primary practice areas are employment law, business transactions, community association law and real estate law. She is an accomplished public speaker who speaks frequently to groups on a number of employment law topics and regularly writes articles that have been published both locally and nationally. Schwinn has served as a volunteer attorney for Gulfcoast Legal Services, Inc. in Sarasota and performs pro bono work for the Lee County Alliance for the Arts.
