Priority Marketing’s Emily Golden earns APR credential

Emily Golden, senior public relations manager at Priority Marketing, has received the universal Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) credential through the Universal Accreditation Board, a consortium of nine professional communication organizations.

The APR credential reflects a mastery of the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to succeed in public relations, as well as a commitment to the profession and its code of ethics.

Only 4,300 active public relations professionals worldwide, including 43 in Southwest Florida, have earned the APR credential, which requires candidates to pass an oral presentation before a panel of accredited professionals and a rigorous computer-based examination that addresses competence in 60 areas of knowledge, skills and abilities associated with the public relations profession.

“Emily started at Priority Marketing in 2015 as a college intern, and each year she has accepted additional responsibilities while helping our clients reach their goals through strategic public relations,” said Teri Hansen, APR, president and chief creative officer at Priority Marketing. “It’s hard to match Emily’s passion for public relations and her dedication to telling clients’ stories, and we are excited to watch her continue to grow professionally and personally in the years to come.”

Golden, a member of the Florida Public Relations Association, is seminars co-chair for FPRA ’s Southwest Florida Chapter and serves on the SWFL Craft Beer Week committee for the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce. At Priority Marketing, Golden is responsible for helping clients increase their awareness through public relations strategies, which include drafting and distributing news releases, contributed articles, guest opinions, blogs, media pitches and awards submissions. Golden also provides media training and counseling, media event planning and communications strategies for a diverse client base that includes nonprofit organizations, small start-up businesses and large companies.

Golden, a Fort Myers native, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication, with a concentration in public relations, from Florida Gulf Coast University.

In addition to Golden, five other Priority Marketing team members previously have earned the APR credential: Teri Hansen, president and chief creative officer; Julia Babair, senior account manager; Holly Boldrin, senior director of public relations; Melissa Mitchell, senior director of marketing and business development; and Rachel Toomey, senior media director. Babair, Boldrin and Mitchell also have earned the Certified Public Relations Counselor (CPRC) advanced credential.
