As Southwest Florida begins to recover from the damage caused by Hurricane Irma, Raymond Building Supply partnered with PGT Industries to provide much-needed supplies to first responders and members of the community in order to aid in their efforts to rebuild. On Sept. 14-15, Raymond Building Supply and PGT Industries handed out free food, 1,000 cases of water, 47,000 pounds of ice, 20 generators and 40 chainsaws, as well as an array of supplies including extension cords, gas cans, flashlights, air beds with pumps, camper stoves, tarps, duct tape, bleach, paper towels, trash bags, batteries and Gatorade to first responders and community members in need.

“We have seen the impact of Hurricane Irma on our community, and want to support our neighbors who are beginning to rebuild their lives and homes,” said James Martin, vice president of operations. “By partnering with PGT Industries to provide these supplies, we hope to lighten the load a bit for those who are working hard to overcome this challenging time.”

First responders, including the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, received supplies, and in turn, many first responders stayed to help Raymond Building Supply and PGT Industries in handing out hurricane supplies to other community members in need. Once first responders and residents received their fill of ice, the remaining ice supply was delivered to the Greater Naples Fire Rescue District Station 21 and the Collier County Emergency Operations Center.

“I’ve known Jimmy and the Raymond Building Supply team for a while, and they stepped right up to the plate with a heartfelt, immediate response, reaching out during this time of need to find out what they can do to help,” said Jim Bloom, Chief and Major of Operations, Collier County Sheriff’s Office. “That’s what makes Southwest Florida, and especially Collier County, a special place to live. It’s not the sunshine, beaches or great weather – it’s the community and how it comes together in time of need.”
