According to a recent study covered by, Millennials are getting their news from social media. The typical young Millennial (ages 18-25) follows an average of 121 publishers across social media networks, nearly three times as many as 35- to 55-year-olds, and consume news on their cell phones 45% more. They also are 15% more likely to value news delivered in a format optimized for their mobile devices. As we continue to study the advertising and public relations opportunities for reaching online audiences of all ages, this confirms the growing importance of social media marketing to almost any brand.
