Vibe Yoga hosts trauma-informed yoga teacher training Nov. 5 and 6

In an effort to help the community after the hurricane, Vibe Yoga is offering reduced-price, trauma-informed, two-day yoga teacher training Nov. 5 and 6 at Vibe Yoga, 13461 Parker Commons Blvd. in Fort Myers.

“Trauma-informed yoga can help people calm their minds and regulate physical responses and their emotions, which is so important with rampant post-storm stress,” said Lindsay Smith, Vibe Yoga founder and a 500-hour E-RYT teacher certified in trauma-informed yoga, Yoga Nidra, yoga for back pain and more. “Most people hold trauma in their bodies. Trauma-informed yoga offers a sense of safety, support and inclusivity, allowing participants to focus on the mind-body connection, calming the nervous system and helping create a sense of control.”

Training topics include an overview of regions of the brain, definition of trauma, symptoms and triggers of trauma, how trauma effects the brain, breakdown of the nervous system, polyvagal theory, creating a safe container, modifications and adaptations, trauma release exercises, creating an inner resource, and how yoga, meditation and breathwork help ease the effects of trauma.

Candidates for this training include yoga instructors, therapists and counselors, wellness coaches, breathwork professionals, school counselors and athletic department professionals (coaches, trainers) and educators who want to learn about helping trauma victims through yoga.

Sessions are from 8 to 5 p.m. on Nov. 5 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 6. An additional training for those who can’t make the November session will be offered for the same price Dec. 17 and 18.

Cost of the training is $189 before Oct. 30 and $299 after Nov. 1. Participants will receive 15 hours of Yoga Alliance CEUs. Registration for all participants is available on the MINDBBODY website or app or visit https://vibeyogaswfl.com/classes/class-schedule/.
